Terms of Service

Effective date: June 12, 2026

These terms govern your use of Cloud Cost Clinic - the website, the read-only AWS waste scanner, the optional resource-birth monitor, and the paid autopilot features. By using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. The service

Cloud Cost Clinic helps small AWS teams find possible waste and avoid surprise bills. It provides educational content, a read-only scanner that reviews cost and resource metadata in an AWS account you connect, optional event-driven monitoring, and paid continuous features. The product is evolving; features may change, and some are in active development.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding agreement. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in secure and for the accuracy of the information you provide. You are responsible for activity under your account.

3. Read-only first, and the connected AWS account

You may only connect AWS accounts you own or are authorized to manage. The standard scanner role is read-only: it cannot delete, stop, start, resize, modify, or create resources, and it never receives your access keys. You deploy it yourself and can delete it at any time to revoke access.

The optional spending-cap "kill-switch" is the only feature that can take an action in your account, and it is double opt-in: you must deploy a separate, clearly scoped role and tag specific EC2 instances with ccc:killswitch=enabled. Even then it can only stop those tagged instances - never terminate, delete, or touch anything untagged. You are responsible for choosing which resources to opt in and for understanding that stopping a resource may interrupt your own workloads.

4. Estimates are review guidance, not guaranteed savings

Cost figures, waste estimates, and budget suggestions are rough review guidance based on public AWS pricing, metered usage, and your billed history. They are not guaranteed savings, not financial advice, and not a substitute for your own verification in AWS Cost Explorer and the AWS console. Always confirm ownership, dependencies, backups, and change windows before deleting or resizing anything. Findings are a review queue, not a delete list.

6. Plans, billing, and subscriptions

The free tier is available today. Paid tiers (Pro, Team, Autopilot) are in development; the pricing page reflects intended pricing and uses a waitlist. No payment is collected yet. When paid billing launches it will run through a third-party processor, these terms will be updated, and you will agree to the billing terms before being charged.

7. Intellectual property and your data

Cloud Cost Clinic owns the site, content, and software, except for any components published under open-source licenses, which are governed by those licenses. You keep ownership of your data; you grant us the limited rights needed to operate the service for you. Feedback you send may be used to improve the product without obligation to you.

8. Third-party services

The service relies on third parties including Amazon Web Services, Google Analytics, and (if you configure it) Slack. We are not responsible for those services or changes to their terms. Your use of AWS remains governed by your agreement with AWS.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, THAT COST ESTIMATES ARE ACCURATE, OR THAT IT WILL PREVENT ANY PARTICULAR CHARGE OR SURPRISE BILL.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CLOUD COST CLINIC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOST PROFITS, LOST SAVINGS, OR AWS CHARGES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. FOR THE FREE TIER, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED USD $100; FOR PAID PLANS, IT WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold harmless Cloud Cost Clinic from claims arising out of your use of the service, the AWS accounts you connect, or your violation of these terms.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end access for breach of these terms or for security or legal reasons. You can stop using the service at any time and revoke access by deleting the CloudFormation stacks in your AWS account. The disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnification survive termination.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product grows. We will change the effective date above and surface material changes in the product. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the service operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction applies.
